At this website you can find out about Roseland Against the Compressor Station (RACS),an organization formed in May 2013 in Roseland, NJ to fight the building of a compressor station by the Williams/Transco gas company.  It was ultimately built, but we continue to do research and take actions to preserve our health and safety.  You will learn how you can get involved in our people-powered campaign if you live in the area, or if you live somewhere else with this same problem, you may find some useful information for your own struggle.

Roseland Against the Compressor Station  participated in the Oct. 19, 2013 Global Frackdown.

Delivered in summer of 2013, signed by 500 residents which helped pressure the town government to pass a resolution against the compressor station.

Area Residents protest natural gas compressor - Dec. 16, 2013
Conference call minutes of Roseland mayor, residents, Williams/Transco corporation and government officials on Nov. 7, 2013 raising serious questions about the Roseland compressor station, i.e., that it was being built right next to high voltage lines. The representative of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) said "it was worth the risk."

Anti-fracking protest outside the Turtle Back Zoo in W. Orange, NJ , Sept. 12, 2013 where Gov. Christie and the Essex County Executive, Joe Divincenzo, were attending an event. Christie has vetoed a ban on processing fracked waste passed by our state legislature which now has to override his veto. Joe D. supports Christie and the Roseland gas compressor station.
June 2014: Vigil outside of Roseland's elementary school on the one year anniversary of the "blow down," (gas release) from the compressor station that infiltrated the building, sickening children and adults, causing an evacuation.

Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen supported work stopping on the building of the Williams/Transco Compressor Station in Roseland, NJ until safety of the residents would be assured.  He was not successful, neither was the community, so it was built.
